Housing Conference around the corner
Remember, the 2007 Michigan Conference on Affordable Housing is right around the corner.

Conference registration will open on February 2, 2007, and the conference itself will be held at the Lansing Center from April 29 to May 2.

For those who aren't already familiar with the Conference on Affordable Housing, here's a quick rundown:

With over 1,500 attendees, the Michigan Conference on Affordable Housing has quickly become the largest conference of its kind in the United States. The conference is attended by service providers, nonprofit and for-profit developers and financiers. In just seven years, it has become the place to be to meet and network with the industry's top players.

Be in the know

We offer two-and-a-half days of informative, educational sessions with leading industry presenters and special guests. The educational tracks for the 2006 conference are:

• Ending Homelessness
• Homeownership
• Creating and Preserving Multifamily Housing
• Community Economic Development
• Organizational Development
• Asset Management for Individuals and Families

As always, several members of the Trust Fund staff will be leading sessions at the conference, and we will have a booth with plenty of goodies inside the exhibit hall. Make sure to stop by and say hello!

The January Newsletter is here
The January Newsletter is here. You can check out the PDF version online, read the plain text eNewsletter, or, if you're on our mailing list, wait for the snail mail version to arrive in your mailbox.

This month's features include articles about the Trust Fund's Mixed Use loan program, an economic development loan to Devon's Hair Salon in Waterford, and an affordable housing loan to Lifequest Group in Grand Rapids.

While the January edition of the newsletter is just getting out the door, we're already gathering ideas for the April release. If you have any topic ideas, or questions you would like us to address in a full-length feature, remember that you can post comments here on the blog, or send us an email with your suggestion.

As always, thanks for reading!

A quote from a new borrower
page0_blog_entry40_1

We're in the final stages of editing our January newsletter right now, and will post the content as soon as it's finished. In the meantime, we wanted to share the following extended quote from Devon Ritchie, whose business is featured in the upcoming newsletter:

"The Michigan Interfaith Trust Fund has been a blessing to me. I was very pleased with the people I got to work with. Mr. Lorenzo Thurman and Ms. Latifa Bradwell helped to stay grounded, think logically, and come to the realization that now, not only am I working behind the chair in a beauty salon, I am a business owner. They also taught me a lot about the process and hard work that goes on and I appreciate them even more.

I had a dream of becoming a beauty salon owner and the Trust Fund helped me make it a reality. I owe everyone at the Trust Fund a debt of gratitude. Thank you for what you have done for my family."

Be sure to keep an eye on the blog (and your mailboxes) for the January edition of the Community Quarterly Newsletter!
