Michigan Interfaith Trust Fund Announces Increased Endowment Match Program In Partnership With Community Foundation

Lansing, Michigan, August 10, 2006—Michigan Interfaith Trust Fund (MITF) has a unique opportunity to significantly increase the size of its endowment at the Community Foundation for Southeastern Michigan through participation in an expanded matching-fund incentive program to build regional philanthropy.

Last year, MITF was accepted to participate in the Community Foundation’s Increasing Regional Philanthropy program, in which new gifts of $1,000 or more to Michigan Interfaith Trust Fund at the Community Foundation earn a match of $1 for every $2 of gift. The Community Foundation recently increased the total match dollars MITF may earn under this program. This means that MITF now has the potential to raise an endowment of $1.5 million to benefit MITF forever. This endowment would be made up of $1 million in gifts and the newly amended maximum match amount of $500,000.

Matching funds will be available on a first-come, first-matched basis through December 31, 2008, or until the matching pool is exhausted. Donors interested in making a match-eligible gift to MITF’S endowment fund at the Community Foundation are encouraged to contact Christine Coady at (517) 372-6001 or the Community Foundation for Southeastern Michigan at (313) 961-6675. Full details of the match program are also available on the Community Foundation for Southeastern Michigan’s Web site, www.cfsem.org.

The Michigan Interfaith Trust Fund fosters economic and social justice by providing loans and technical assistance for affordable housing and economic development throughout Michigan. For more information about MITF, please visit interfaithtrust.org.
